"It's a place to sit . . . to watch the water and the weather. To dream, rest, and refresh. To read by the fire or explore the garden. A place to breathe . . . renew your acquaintance with your family, your friends, your self."
We want the SeaRose to be accessible to all. With that in mind, here is info that you might want to know:
* The front of the house has 7 steps up to the front deck. However, if you drive to the back of the house, it is easy to enter. Park on the gravel driveway next to the back deck. Stepping from the gravel to the deck is about 7" high. Then across the back deck, we have added a gentle ramp to enter the back door.
* Once inside, the house is all one level.
* From the inside of the house, you can go directly out to the front deck. No steps, just the normal threshold at the front door.
* Doorway widths: Front and back door = 36"; Bedroom doors = 30"; Bathroom door = 28" Wide enough for a small/med. wheelchair or walker.
* SeaRose house is not officially ADA, but can accommodate people with limited mobility and/or people using wheelchairs. If this is your situation, measure your equipment to make sure it will work.
* Make sure you can navigate from the gravel parking up the one step (approx. 7") at the back deck.
The SeaRose is kick-back-comfortable and relaxing. The big picture windows allow a delightful tree-framed ocean view. The large decks provide scenic outdoor relaxation. There are expansive lawns for kids to play on and explore.
House: Refrigerator, gas stove with oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster and popcorn popper. As well as dishes, pots and pans, and all needed kitchen items. Previous guests often leave items like spices, sugar, cooking oil and so forth for other guests to use.
Studio kitchen has full-size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, 2 burner hotplate, coffee maker, coffee grinder, water kettle. As well as all the usual kitchen supplies (dishes, pots & pans, etc.) But no dishwasher or full-size stove or oven.
Owners provide dish soap, cleaning supplies, dishtowels, cloth napkins and trash bags.
Guests agree to clean at the end of their stay - leaving the SeaRose ready for the next guests.
However, if you prefer to have someone else clean at the end, let us know and we will arrange for a local cleaning person for an extra fee.
(Note: One of the ways we keep our rates so reasonable is by not having cleaning or laundry service.)
House Heat: ELECTRIC HEAT is available in all rooms plus there’s a nice WOOD STOVE with front window. Firewood is provided for those who want to relax and fire-watch.
Studio Heat: Cadet wall heater.
House: We have lots of books, games, journals, and curiosities. There is a VCR/DVD player with lots of fun, old movies (sorry, no cable/TV reception in this area of the coast) as well as a stereo with CD player. Some guests bring their own Roku or watch movies on their laptops.
Studio: TV with DVD player mounted on wall. Good selection of DVDs. Bring your own Roku if you want to stream with your own account.
House: We have a regular landline phone that provides local out-going calls, and takes incoming calls. For long-distance, you may use your calling card. Cell phone reception is erratic in this part of the coast, so no direct cell service. But you can add our WiFi link to your cell phone and get calls and texts that way.
Studio: No landline phone. Our WiFi signal can be used in the studio, as well as in the house.
Wi-Fi is available for your needs in the house and in the studio. This area of the coast does not have reliable cell reception. But you can use our Wi-Fi on your cell phone. Then call/text through that Wi-Fi connection. (Also, you can usually get good cell reception in Florence or Yachats.) And of course, if you prefer our pre-tech version - just leave your laptop at home.
House: Overnight maximum is seven to eight friends. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. Front bedroom has a raised queen bed with an ocean view. Back bedroom has one queen bed and one single bed. There’s a futon couch (double bed size) in the room near the wood stove and kitchen. And a couch in the living room that a single person or child could sleep on. A foam floor mat is also available.
Studio: one queen bed and one loveseat that converts to a single bed.
House and Studio: We provide comforters, blankets and pillows. Also provided -kitchen dishcloths, kitchen towels and cloth napkins and all cleaning supplies.
You bring your own personal linens (your own sheets, pillowcases and bath towels). Sorry, no laundry facilities available.
Sea Rose Beach, known as a great place to find agates, is three to four minutes away on foot - but there are no longer any nearby easy paths to get to the ocean cliffs. There are several state and local access beaches within a short driving distance. Visit local wonders like Sea Lion Caves, Bob Creek, Strawberry Hill Wayside, Neptune Scenic Viewpoint, Cape Perpetua Visitors Center, Oregon Coast Aquarium and many more - CLICK HERE. (when you click this link, expand the map to reveal more fascinating places)
We are located on the east side of Highway 101 with a privacy fence across the front to shield highway noise. From the house, you can see over it to the ocean.
The SeaRose is on a somewhat secluded park-like half acre with lots of beautiful trees and open space. The property's back perimeter is National Forest land (part of the Silver Spotted Butterfly Preserve) with many deer and elk trails. Various guests have reported seeing elk, deer, fox, raccoons, rabbits, and a huge variety of birds on our property and in the National Forest behind.

SeaRose owners are always interested in trading coast time for needed items (like firewood) or skilled labor (carpentry, appliance repair, painting, gardening, rug and upholstery cleaning, deep house cleaning or other).
Note: Trades are for stays during the weekdays (Sun-Thurs). Sorry, we don't trade for holidays, or busy summer months.
Thank you for your interest in our place!

Located on the Central Oregon Coast, 18 miles north of Florence and 6 miles south of Yachats where there are fun places to eat. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is great hiking, fishing and beachcombing nearby. There are often sea lions at Strawberry Hill, a good walk just 1.5 miles north. And the view from the top of Cape Perpetua is just breathtaking.
"The Sea Rose is beautiful! We stayed for a few days when my husband's mother came to visit from Canada and it was great! So quiet and peaceful and great for the kids. We flew kites on the beach and built sand castles even though it was February. I have recommended it to all of my friends."
"the sea rose is secluded, has a wonderful yard and is within easy driving distance to Eugene. the rates are wonderful and its fun that you can do trades or watch for last minute specials. ...............It is a close drive to Yachats for a lovely meal if you do not want to cook. You can also walk on the beach or shop or drive up the coast for the day and then come back to this wonderful retreat to rest, relax and have a wonderful meal. It is a lovely beach to walk on. Once you get there you can just retreat, no need to drive anywhere for your stay. come alone or with friends or with family."
"My husband and I love the SeaRose! It's the first place we think of when we want to get away (besides backpacking). We keep saying we'll bring the kids sometime, but so far it hasn't happened! We love the high bed looking out to the ocean and feel right at home there. I love that you have all the movies you do, and I imagine a time where I'll just watch as many as I want, journal, walk, watch the fire, rest, look at all the magnificent stars, walk down the beach and hope to see another flock of pelicans . . . So far, movies take a distant second to everything else there, including hiking at Cape Perpetua, which we do most every time we're there. Thanks for sharing!"
